A Chic Christmas Tree

There is no place like home for the holidays. I absolutely love to entertain and host family this time of year. It gives me a fun excuse to make themed cookies, decorate the house, and put a spirited cocktail or two together. To me, the Christmas tree is the focal point of a home's Christmas decor, so it was important to me that I make it a show stopper. This year, I decided to create an entirely new tree theme and started with a gorgeous flocked tree from King of Christmas. In years past I created a woodland tree. It was beautiful but I always found it to be very dark in the room and wanted something that was bright and cheery, but more importantly - chic. I also wanted my tree to match my current home decor so that it fit the room well and act as an accent rather than a distraction.

One of the additions I am loving for my den are these pillows from Etsy (which also come in grey). They are so chic and comfortable and look amazing next to a solid colored velvet pillow.
This year I grabbed all of my Christmas tree ornaments from The Jolly Christmas Shop. I found their store online and then realized their flagship store was just a 40 minute drive from my house! I decided to go to their shop and grab their tips for decorating the perfect tree. I'm so glad that I did. I picked up a ton of great pointers on how to create an elegant, timeless, well-put together tree.
You can shop my tree items here.

1. Use ribbon!

Use ribbon throughout the tree. We made a large bow as a tree topper. I then cut the extra ribbon into 12 inch pieces, cut tails on the ends, and used them as a spray throughout the tree.

2. Place larger ornaments within the tree

To create depth and dimension in your tree, place your large ornaments deeper into the tree.

3. Sprays for days

Use up to 3 variations of sprays in your tree to add flair and interest. I grabbed 5 of a large spray, 4 of a medium sized spray and clipped them apart to place throughout the tree, and 5 of a thin wire spray. Add additional to help with your tree topper.

4. Place smaller ornaments on the tips

Grab your icicles, delicate ornaments, and other thin "drip" ornaments and place them on the tips of the tree. This will polish off your tree nicely.
