10 Netflix Picks to Watch Now
I asked you guys last night if you'd like a post about Netflix shows I'm watching regularly, and you enthusiastically voted YES!
Truth be told, I love TV. I often have it playing in the background while I work or shop on my computer and I have to have my evening "wind down" time to watch a few shows. During the day when I'm working, I put on something that is pretty mindless that doesn't demand my full attention. At night, I pick a show that has a little more meat to it that demands my full attention. Below are a mix of those types of shows. Let me know if you have seen any of these or what you think of them after you watch!
1. Workin' Moms, Season 4 | Garrett and I have a hard time finding a show that interests both of us, so this has been an amazing discovery. It's very funny and a feel-good type of show. Not to mention I get excited with the work interactions of the main character, Kate Foster, because she owns her own PR agency (a dream of mine) with pretty exciting customers.
2. Dead to Me , Season 2 | I binged this entire season in 3 evenings. It's emotional and has crazy twists in each episode. Definitely a great show to watch with your bestie as these two unlikely friends constantly have each other's back.
3. Salt Fat Acid Heat | As a major foodie and someone that loves cooking, this four part docuseries is both educational and beautiful. The host is quirky and always willing to taste anything she's handed. While traveling the world, she uses specific locations based on their culture's understanding of one of the four necessities to any good meal: salt, fat, acid and heat. I also read her book cover-to-cover and highly recommend it for anyone looking to hone their craft in the kitchen.
4. Sebastian Maniscalco, Stay Hungry | This guy is hysterical. He has several stand-up episodes on Netflix like this one and this one, and I love them all. His observations, hilarious body movements, and small tolerance for the questions we all secretly ask ourselves (what's wrong with people??) make him delightfully lovable and a must-watch. Garrett and I always laugh about his bit on giving "the parent price" (from Why Would You Do That).
5. The Goop Lab | Don't judge me for this one. I wanted to think it was going to be silly, but I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked the series. Gwen and her team keep it real by visiting various experts - from energy coaches to soul cleansing with psychedelics - and share their experiences.
6. You, Season 2 | I like season 2, but not as much as season one. Gripping. Crazy. The lead character has a kind of Ted Bundy appeal to him - charming, attractive, innocent, smart. This show will definitely make you investigate anyone before you date them.
7. Stay Here | Garrett and I have been discussing starting an Airbnb in our college town, Oxford, MS and when I discovered this show I was excited to use it as a learning tool. This is also a great show for anyone that loves to travel, loves a good HGTV makeover show, or simply wants to see some insane before and afters of unique Airbnbs.
8. Married at First Sight | (Not the best trailer) I'm not usually a fan of dating shows, but I loved this one and surprisingly, Garrett liked it too. These couples meet for the first time on their wedding day. Each person agreed to an arranged marriage (matched by three marriage experts) in hopes of finding their forever. At the end of 8 weeks, each spouse has the option of staying married or asking for a divorce. It's very addictive and fun to watch, as you see their new relationship unfold and root for each couple to stay together.
9. Queer Eye, Season 5 | I laughed. I cried. I yelled "Yas Kween". I LOVE the guys on this show. This is an all-around feel good show that is family friendly and has a lot of depth behind the laughs. If you love a makeover show with heart, this is the show for you. The best part? You don't need to watch the seasons or shows in any order.
10. Jeffrey Epstein: Filthy Rich | Garrett and I watch true crime documentaries regularly because it's one of the categories we can agree on to watch together. If I had to describe this documentary in one word: shocking.
