This year, I wanted to make a bar cart that was tacky yet chic for a small get together we are planning with a few close friends. I loved the challenge of making something tacky look chic, and personally, I think I nailed it.

To set the mood for the design, I started with some fun multicolored tinsel and multicolored lights. The multicolored lights fit the bar cart’s ambiance effortlessly. The bar instantly looked like it was ready for a party.

Next, I took my favorite low ball glasses from Juliska and added in some colorful cocktail picks from Joanna Buchanon for some extra glitz! To add height to some areas on the bar car, I used gift boxes from Target and used them as pedestals.

I found some cute boozy ornaments that give the bar cart an amusing feel. I also added crushed peppermint to use for the rim of a drink - such a sweet addition. For those who might want hot cocoa, crushed peppermint is a delicious topper with some whipped cream.

ornaments in martini glasses

Recently, I was watching Home Alone and noticed all of the attention to detail they had for their decorations throughout the house. One of the things that inspired me was seeing that they put ornaments in wine glasses inside their china cabinet - what a cute idea! I also put a big hologram silver bow on a gift box to make the cart feel a little more festive.

drinks with festive jingle bells

To make the bar cart feel extra fun, I added little jingle bells (intended for gift wrapping) to the necks of several of the bottles.

As a final touch, I got some fairy lights and placed them behind the ice bucket to create a colorful glow effect. I’m obsessed with how it turned out!
