How to Care for Mini Topiary Trees
With spring on the horizon, I am ready to let the sunshine in! What better way to make your home feel like spring than by infusing your home with greenery?
Being a bad plant momma of the past (black thumb over here) I am determined now more than ever to keep my indoor plants alive. I have been loving the mini topiary trend and wanted live ones to put in our dining room and kitchen. When I received my cute little topiaries, I wanted to make sure they would live a long life.
I was gifted my topiaries from a wonderful online nursery, Lamoreux Greenhouses, and asked them for all the tips to help us black thumb mommas take care of our precious little trees. Read below for their tips on how to care for your mini topiary.

HOW TO CARE FOR MINI TOPIARIES
Where should topiaries go inside a home?
Topiaries should be in a bright window
Can they go outside?
They can go outside in summer. Putting them in part sun would be best.
How much water do they need?
Watering depends on how much sun they are getting, but they don’t like to dry out so keep them wet. Try not to get the foliage wet because it’s not good for the foliage to stay wet for too long.
When should I re-pot my topiaries?
Repot them once the roots are dense and to the edge of the pot or if they are drying out too fast they are ready to repot.
What kind of soil should I use to re-pot them?
A lightweight potting soil is good.
What kind of pot do I need?
The pot does need drainage. A dish will help catch the water and the plant will suck the excess water up as needed.
How often and what should I use to trim them to keep their shape?
Trim as needed, shaped how you like with a pair of scissors.
Can I cover the soil with moss?
You can cover the soil with moss but make sure to keep it wet. Having moss will be using some of the water meant for the plant so it will require more water.
What are some common issues that topiaries face?
The most common problem is people let them dry out and they don’t come back from it easily. Keep them watered.
Hope this little interview helped you other plant mommas to have your little topiaries live a long life.
