What to Wear to an Art Show

I love going to art exhibits. My husband and I travel often and when we do, if there is an incredible collection of art nearby, we go. When I found out the works of Yayoi Kusama were coming to Atlanta, I hunted down tickets as fast as I could. Being one of the most influential artists of the twentieth century to tour America, each city it has arrived in has sold out in a matter of hours.Once I secured my spot, I then started thinking of what I should wear to the installation. Her works are all so colorful and larger than life. I started then thinking about what outfits are appropriate to wear to an art show in general.Chances are you will probably attend an art museum or gallery sometime in your life. For an event meant to celebrate the works of the artist and the gallery hosting their work, one shouldn't wear anything that competes with the artist's work. You can, however, wear something that compliments the works of the artist and still look chic.My tips for outfits to wear to an art gallery:The only thing that should be "on display" is the artwork. Make sure to cover up and don't wear anything too tight. Sophistication is of the utmost importance.Basic pieces without loud patterns and shapes are recommended. Your job attending an art show is to keep the focus on the art. Wearing plain colors and muted patterns will help pay respect to the artwork.Conservative dress doesn't mean you can't look fashionable and chic. Try layering a dress with a scarf, leggings and boots or a jumpsuit with a fun belt and unique handbag. Keep your conservative ensemble interesting and artistic by adding interest with fun accessories.

Here are a few pieces that would look great to wear for an art show this season:
