When I started on our primary bedroom, I set out to create a retreat that evokes the grandeur of the Ritz Paris.

In the latest update, I turned to the exquisite Versailles wallpaper by Schumacher to infuse our space with a touch of classic Southern sophistication. Paired with Italian wood nightstands and this soft powdery blue color palette, the transformation has elevated our bedroom into a haven of refined beauty.

Walls become a work of art

The Versailles wallpaper by Schumacher takes center stage, transporting me to the opulent halls of French palaces and enchanted me with its intricate patterns and rich color palette. Its delicate motifs and regal design add a layer of elegance to our bedroom walls, reminiscent of the timeless style found in the Ritz Paris. The interplay of soft powdery blue hues brings a sense of serenity and tranquility, creating a soothing atmosphere that invites rest and relaxation.

When it came to transforming my space, I knew I wanted to take it to the next level by adding a touch of architectural charm. That's why I turned to mouldings. These intricate details not only elevated the aesthetics of the walls but also added a layer of sophistication and character. By selecting a timeless white color for the mouldings and walls, I created a visual illusion that made the room feel more spacious and expansive. The clean and crisp lines of the white mouldings create a sense of depth and dimension, accentuating the architectural elements and making the walls pop.

Bedside Glamour

To complement the luxurious wallpaper, I incorporated Italian wood nightstands into the design. These exquisite antique pieces, with their intricate carvings and warm wood tones, add a touch of Old-World charm and rustic elegance to the space. They serve as functional bedside companions while also contributing to the overall aesthetic of “Southern sophistication”.

Tying it Together

The soft powdery blue wallpaper serves as the perfect backdrop for our carefully chosen furnishings and accents. Crisp white linens, adorned with delicate embroidery and trim, bring a sense of purity and grace to the bed. Plush pillows add a touch of luxury and invite us to sink into a world of comfort.

To complete the transformation thus far, I selected marble lighting fixtures that exude elegance and charm. A crystal lamp at the entrance of the room casts a soft glow, enhancing the romantic ambiance of the room and illuminating the intricate details of the Versailles wallpaper. While this bedroom is not yet complete, I have loved watching the progress over the last two years as I transform it into what I’m affectionately referring to as “the Ritz-a-sippi”.
